Eating and drinking downtown

The restaurants and bars downtown cluster a few blocks south of Ashley Lofts, around Bay, Forsyth and Adams Streets near the river, in the district called the Elbow. It holds more than twenty places, most about a third of a mile south.

The Elbow, on Bay Street

Cowford Chophouse, a steakhouse with a rooftop bar in the restored 1902 Bostwick Building at 101 East Bay Street, is the anchor. Along the same stretch of Bay Street are Bay Street Sports Grille at 119 East Bay, Cinco de Mayo at 301 East Bay, Element Bistro + Bar at 335 East Bay, and the live-music rooms Keane's Tavern, LIVE Bar and Decca at 315, 331 and 323 East Bay. Around the corner on North Ocean Street are The Circuit Arcade Bar and Ocean Street Tacos and Tequila.

Forsyth and Adams Streets

A block west on Forsyth Street are Casa Dora, an Italian cafe at 108 East Forsyth; Spliff's Gastropub at 100 East Forsyth; Dos Gatos at 123 East Forsyth; and Ruby Beach Brewing, a brewery and taproom at 228 East Forsyth across from the Florida Theatre. On Adams Street, near 21 East Adams, are Indochine, a Southeast Asian restaurant, and Dorothy's Downtown, with Hardwicks Bar at 100 East Adams.

Everyday, not just going out

With a galley kitchen and no oven, a home like this leans on the walk to Bay Street.
